Wait...What month is this?? What happened??

Well, I guess I didn't realize I was going to end up being away from my blog for almost 2 months but that's what has happened. A lot has been going on in my neck of the woods and, in turn, I've allowed these changes to get into my head and hinder my writing.

As much as the hubs and I have been looking forward to becoming full-time RVer's we had to make the change more quickly than we originally anticipated. So, as I type this, I am sitting in the dinette area of our Winnebago in the middle of a Eucalyptus grove on the outskirts of town. This has been our home since March 1.

Home
So much work was involved to get to this point so quickly. In less than 30 days we had to sort everything in our house into "keep", "sell" and "store" piles. We had our second major yard sale netting over $3000 (again), had the RV into Camping World for installation of the satellite dish (a MUST have for the hubs even though this was a major headache), packed and moved a select few items into a storage unit (which really was a huge fiasco for several weeks as we ironed out cost effective options for keeping vs. selling important items), drove around and selected a suitable place to live that was close enough to commute to work, packed and then repacked the RV multiple times with items we needed (or thought we needed) so we could live comfortably in less than 200 square feet. In the meantime, we were both still working our normal shifts.
To top things off, my job also offered me the opportunity to work as an independent contractor effective March 1. Yay!! That also meant I was officially no longer 'employed'. Uh oh. As we were attempting to set up house in our RV I was also having to figure out how to set up a home office, come up with a contract for my new business and order business cards. Exciting yes, but also terrifying since I would no longer have a set salary I could depend on (instead I get paid a percentage of the insurance claims I successfully get paid for car dealerships).

This past month has been filled with lessons known as trial and error. There is so much to learn about the RV life and we haven't even officially hit the road yet! Limited space really makes you reconsider what is important and how much 'stuff' one can buy at the grocery store.

My new "wine cellar" (and Miso checking it out).
With my new found time I finally activated my gym membership and made a recommitment to running. I've scouted out a few places close by where I can run and hike if I don't feel like going to the gym (which is about 5 miles one way). I also have been devising my own kettlebell/crossfit routines that I can do right here at our campsite...speed rope, walking lunges, box jumps on the picnic table...but I have been neglecting my writing.

This morning I read Expanding Outdoors blog and it really hit the nail on the head for me. Day after day, whether I am checking Facebook or working from home, I stare at my blog shortcut on my toolbar and I tell myself to just click it...but for some reason a fear has gripped me, fear that I won't know what to write about, that it won't be any good, that I will have no idea how to keep my thoughts from rambling (I always have that fear) so I just didn't click it. And then I read Amy's post about The Advantages of Imperfection...
"Sometimes... when you hold out for everything, you walk away with nothing.
It's just what I needed. It will take me a while to catch up on my favorite blogs and hopefully reconnect with some of my favorite people. I am sorry to have neglected this very important aspect of my life. As I settle into the nomad lifestyle it is becoming more apparant that I need this outlet and my fellow blogging friends. I look foward to seeing what everyone has been up to and to write about the new adventure I find myself on.
